Make It York is proud to organise many free events and festivals throughout the year for residents and visitors to enjoy. We are committed to ensuring that everyone can participate, with access requirements in place to support with additional needs.

Below is our accessibility guide to York Ice Trail.

Disabled Access

York Ice Trail is located at various sites across the city centre. The City of York Council has put a number of measures in place in York city centre to improve access for residents and visitors with disabilities. Further information can be found here: https://www.york.gov.uk/DisabledAccess

York Ice Trail

To assist pre-planning to the event and what to expect when you arrive:

York Ice Trail is a popular event (the ‘coolest’ event we run) and as such there is a high number of residents and visitors in the city. The event is split across two days with fresh sculptures being placed on the Sunday to ease the crowd density in the city.

As part of the trail, we produce a free map with all the locations marked on there. Our harder to find sculptures will have large, clear and well positioned signage directing you to them where appropriate.

Event staff/Security/Stewards - All stewards and security personal have been briefed to signpost/assist members of the public where possible. If they can’t give you an exact answer, they will be able to contact the specific person for your needs who will be able to help.

Quiet Periods

We understand that York Ice Trail can be a busy event at peak times which can be overwhelming to some attendees. We advise if you’re looking for a quieter time to visit, early in the day is best.
