Nalbinding Workshop

About

Nalbinding- A free hands on workshop of this historic craft, popular through the Viking Age. Nalbinding is also known as nalebinding, nailbinding, nålbinding and needlebinding and it is something that customers of Asgard have shown an interest in knowing more about from the beginning.
Nalbinding is a textile technique that uses a single, eyed, needle to create fabric by sewing non-continuous lengths of thread in a fashion that in its most basic form is a series of buttonhole stitches and in more complex forms are threaded together.
Although it is more time-consuming than knitting or crochet, the finished fabric is generally denser, warmer and stronger than knitted or crocheted. Learning nalbands also gives the feeling of reconnecting to a primitive craft and creating useful and attractive clothes in the same way that our ancestors did.
