About us

Exhibition of contemporary art, sculpting, carving and batik, showcasing the work of:

Lynn Shaw - Lynn is an artist and photographer, and is inspired by the opening credits of the film ‘Schindler’s List’, notably the grayscale with a little girl dressed in a red coat. She finds grayscale images extremely emotive. She never goes out with the intention of finding a particular composition; nature and architecture provide the composition for her, shown off to their most dramatic effect by natural light. Lynn lives in Skipton.

Anthony Bartyla - Anthony is a stone carver/sculptor who lives and works in Dunnington, on the outskirts of York. He creates sculptures from his own original ideas and designs, using methods and techniques that the Greeks and Romans pioneered. Anthony loves to have an idea in his head and bring it to life in stone, with real character and feeling.

Edward Waites - from Cambridge, Edward is a completely self-taught sculptor who uses the ancient lost-wax method, first working in clay and then casting in bronze and silver limited editions. His collection comprises of animals and wildlife, and is shaped by his passion for the vitality, energy and grace of his subjects. His sculptures feature in distinguished public, corporate and private collections around the world, including several royal collections.

Rebecca Mason - Based in York, Rebecca specialises in Batik on both cotton and silk. She particularly enjoys the fluidity, flexibility, unpredictability and crackle effect of the wax, together with being creative with colour and the freedom of abstract designs. Her ties and scarves are each uniquely designed. Her cotton pictures are varied in design, using a variety of techniques.
