'A Beginner's Guide to Being Mental'

We all have a brain and therefore a mental health. Here, Natasha Devon describes three skills which everyone needs to survive modern life, wherever they are on the mental health spectrum.

Natasha will be signing copies of her new book at the end of the talk and copies can be bought on the night from the Little Apple Bookshop's pop up bookstall.

Speaker Biography

Natasha Devon MBE is a writer & campaigner. She tours schools and colleges throughout the UK, delivering talks as well as conducting research on mental health, body image, gender and social equality. She regularly speaks at Parliament and gives evidence to the Education and Health Select Committees, representing the interests of teenagers and teachers. In 2016, the Sunday Times and Debretts named Natasha one of the 500 most influential people in Britain.

Natasha writes regularly for the Guardian, is a former columnist for Cosmopolitan Magazine and currently has a weekly column in the Times Educational Supplement. 'A Beginner's Guide to Being Mental: An A-Z' by Natasha Devon will be published in May 2018, by Bluebird Books at Pan MacMillan.

Natasha is a certified trainer for Mental Health First Aid England and Beat (formerly the Eating Disorders Association). She consults with a range of mental health, body image and diversity-focused charities, sharing the results of her research as well as gaining the benefit of their expertise. She is also a Fellow of the University of Wales: Aberystwyth and advises them, as well as other universities, on campus wellbeing. In 2015 Natasha was awarded an MBE for her services to young people.
