York Christmas Festival - 16 November to 22 December 2023
We’re looking forward to all the seasonal Christmas festivities in York, including the hugely popular York Christmas Market along with our iconic, year-round Shambles Market and Food Court.
Book now ▸
When visiting at this most magical time of the year, we operate a booking system for coaches during the busier times. Bookings are available for Saturdays and Sundays during the Christmas festive period via Eventbrite.
If you’re not visiting on the weekends during the festive period, you can benefit from a quieter time by visiting during the week where there is no booking necessary, and the normal coach parking tariffs will apply. Read the full information for coach operators – City of York Council.

FAQs for coach parking in York
Q: Are there any limitations on vehicles entering the city walls?
A: Coaches and minibuses with over 16 seats cannot enter the city walls of York, except for a section of Station Road. Skeldergate Bridge is the only city centre bridge crossing available to coaches. Please contact buses@york.gov.uk if you would like further information.
Q: I have wheelchair users and older visitors on my coach - can I drop them off within the city walls?
A: Only under extenuating circumstances can arrangements be made for a coach to set-down/collect within the city walls (for example, a large proportion of the travelling party is registered as disabled and they are attending a service at York Minster). There is currently an administration fee of £10 to raise such a waiver and further information and advice is available from City of York Council on 01904 551309.
Q: Where can I park my coach overnight?
A: You are able to leave your coach overnight in St George's Field coach park but coaches cannot be removed before 8am the following morning.
Q: How much will it cost to park my coach for the day?
A: For up to date tariffs, please contact City of York Council on 01904 551309. Alternatively, visit the coach parking section of their website.
