York Christmas Festival - 17 November to 23 December 2022

We are looking forward to bringing back all the seasonal fun and festivities to York where we will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of St Nicholas Fair this year. When visiting at this most magical time of the year we operate a booking system for coaches. We are only making bookings for Saturdays and Sundays during the festival this year and these will be available to be booked via Eventbrite.

SOME DATES ARE NOW SOLD OUT for Union Terrace. St George's Field is closed for coach parking over weekends at Christmas. Therefore we are recommending you drop off at the city centre drop off point at Memorial Gardens/Leeman Road. Then park at York Pullman depot at Rufforth. Details of how to secure your place are here. Please do call in advance to let York Pullman know you are wanting to book in.

For coach visits during the week the normal coach parking tariffs will apply.

FAQs for coach parking in York

Q: Are there any limitations on vehicles entering the city walls?

A: Coaches and minibuses with over 16 seats cannot enter the city walls of York, except for a section of Station Road. Skeldergate Bridge is the only city centre bridge crossing available to coaches. Please contact buses@york.gov.uk if you would like further information.

Q: I have wheelchair users and older visitors on my coach - can I drop them off within the city walls?

A: Only under extenuating circumstances can arrangements be made for a coach to set-down/collect within the city walls (for example, a large proportion of the travelling party is registered as disabled and they are attending a service at York Minster). There is currently an administration fee of £10 to raise such a waiver and further information and advice is available from City of York Council on 01904 551309.

Q: Where can I park my coach overnight?

A:
You are able to leave your coach overnight in St George's Field coach park but coaches cannot be removed before 8am the following morning.

Q: How much will it cost to park my coach for the day?

A:
For up to date tariffs, please contact City of York Council on 01904 551309. Alternatively, visit the coach parking section of their website.

Q: Are there food & drink vouchers available to coach drivers?

A:
Yes, complimentary food and drink vouchers are available to coach drivers. Value up to £10 redeemable at any street food vendor in Shambles Market and Shambles Food Court. (Please note these vouchers are not accepted at the York Christmas Market only on Shambles Market).
