Woodlands Farm Guest House is rated by the AA 5 Star (Gold Award), AA Friendliest B&B of the Year 2019 and more recently won B&B and Guest House of the Year 2020 in the Visit York Tourism Awards.  Set in the stunning and peaceful countryside on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, in the hamlet of Thimbleby, Woodlands Farm is the perfect Countryside retreat for exploring the Moors and the Yorkshire Coast.  We are a short drive from the A19, one of the main routes to York so if you are looking to combine your holiday with a stay in the Countryside with easy access to the historic City of York, we are the ideal place for you.  If you like walking and cycling, the Cleveland Way National Trail and Coast to Coast Walks are nearby, there are plenty of footpaths leading to beauty spots and viewing points.  We can store your bikes here.  The stunning Mount Grace Priory owned by the National Trust and managed by English Heritage is only 4 miles away.  The World of James Herriot Visitor Centre in Thirsk is only a short drive from Thimbleby, a must see for fans of the Author and TV series All Creatures Great and Small.  The Guest Accommodation is in converted stables around a stable block each with their own private entrance and views of the open Countryside.  The furniture in the rooms is made by local craftsmen including the famous Robert Thompson's 'Mouseman' oak furniture.  We have amended our food & drink offering since the Covid19 pandemic and breakfast can be served in the main farmhouse (staggered breakfast times), or choose from our NEW Room Service menu so Guests can enjoy breakfast in their room or outside (weather permitting).   Guests can prebook Afternoon Tea or a Yorkshire Platter and Cheeseboard using local, seasonal produce and Woodlands Farm is a licensed premises with an in-house wine list which is perfect to enjoy in the evening especially star-gazing in our dark skies.  We have two Suites with Cooking facilities which are family-friendly.  We can provide toys, cots, high chairs and a Childrens breakfast menu available.  Please view our website www.woodlandsfarmthimbleby.com for more information on our accommodation.  Cookery Experiences are also available from Autumn-late Spring in the Farmhouse kitchen specialising in British/Yorkshire Cookery using the best Yorkshire produce, the courses are run by Amy who owns and runs Woodlands Farm with her husband Paul, and Amy previously worked for Bettys Cookery Schoool in Harrogate as a Senior Chef Tutor.  Contact us DIRECT so we can tailor your stay and reassure you on our cleaning measures which make Woodlands Farm Covid19 secure.  BOOK DIRECT, click HERE.

Road Directions

By road, we are 11 miles North of Thirsk on the A19 (Northbound) or 2 miles South of Osmotherley/Northallerton A684 signpost on the A19 (Southbound).  Turn off at the Thimbleby sign and we are a short drive up the country lane to the village of Thimbleby.  First house on the left.

Northallerton is our nearest train station on the London North Eastern Railway from London Kings Cross up to Scotland.

Public Transport Directions

By train - We are 8 miles from Northallerton which is on the main London North Eastern Railway from London Kings Cross up to Scotland.  There are plenty of trains to and from York (20 min travel time) from Northallerton station.  Pick up from the train station can be arranged if booked in advance.

By car - We are a short drive from the A19 and have plenty of off-street parking in our car park. CCTV is in operation.

By plane - We are 60-75 minute drive from Leeds Bradford International Airport and Newcastle International Airport.

There are no bus services directly to the village of Thimbleby.  Our nearest bus stop is in Osmotherley just over a mile from Woodlands Farm.
