About us

Whatever your reason for visiting York, Wheatlands Lodge Hotel offers great value for money and the very best in Yorkshire hospitality and service.

Many of Yorks famous attractions including The York Minster, Cliffords Tower, The National Railway Museum and Jorvik are just a stroll away.  So too are the many new and exciting shops and restaurants that York has on offer.

Climb the steps onto the City Walls, just 5 minutes walk away, for an alternative, historic and scenic way of getting into York Centre.  Also on our doorstep is the award winng York Racecourse and Bishy Road - a bustling local community street with a colourful array or independent street cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Our fully liscensed bar lounge, with a Laurel and Hardy theme,  is a great place for relaxing before or after a busy day sightseeing.  Open fires welocme you in the winter, making it home form home. Beautiful lawned gardens to the front of the hotel can be enjoyed all year round.

Full English breakfasts and a Table D'hote evening menu are served in our spacious, modern restaurant with friendly table service.

The hotel has a 24 hour reception for your convenience offering flexible check-in, complimentary city maps, left luggage and much more to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Wheatlands Lodge Welcomes group booking of all types including educational school trips, private coach parties and social and sporting groups.  Children are very welcome and stay and eat free when sharing with 2 adults.

Road Directions

By Road:  

Approaching from the South A64/A1

Take the second exit for York - A1036 and follow slip road left.  Continue along Tadcaster Road, passing York Racecourse on your right.  After the Racecourse the road rises up to a set of traffic lights.  Stay in the right hand lane and go straight on.  At next lights turn right onto Scarcroft Road and the hotel is just on the right.  

Approaching from North A1/A59

Stay on A59 until you come to an iron railway bridge.  Turn right immediately after the bridge onto DaltonTerrace. Follow road to the traffic lights. Turn left and get in the right hand lane. Turn right at the next lights onto Scarcroft Road and the hotel is on your right.

Approaching form the East A1079

Follow the A1079 to the city walls.  Turn right at the traffic lights passing the Barbican Centre.  Keep left but follow the one way system, looping right near Mecca Bingo.  Keep left going over Skeldergate Bridge onto Bishopthorpe Road.  At the traffic lights, passed the shops, turn right onto Scarcroft Road.  The hotel is at the end of the road on your left.

Walking form the Railway Station

Turn right out of the station and follow the road to the traffic lights.  Turn right onto Blossom Street. Walk for less than 5 minutes, passing the Everyman Cinema.  Scarcroft Road is on your left opposite the Kwik Fit garage.

Parking

Our carpark is located to the rear of the hotel but has limited spaces and operates on a first come first served basis.  Street parking is availble close by and we have overspill parking on weekends after 4pm Fridays at All Saints School 2 minutes walk away.
