House at Crooked End Living Room

About us

Crooked End offers space & superb modern comfort in a sympathetically restored & stylish Victorian terrace in the heart of the fashionable Bishopthorpe Road district within easy walking reach of all of York's history, culture, eating and shopping.

The property, built in the 1880's has been renovated to a high standard with stripped Victorian floors & period features throughout. This is combined with high end matching contemporary furnishings to offer a wonderful home from home in the city.

When you want well located holiday accommodation the trade-off is space and cost, but with Crooked End you can have it all, space to live and spread out combined with a great location and offered at great value prices for families and small groups.

You will have access to the full property during your stay including our large outdoor York Stone city garden with stylish contemporary garden furniture.

Crooked End is located less than a minute's walk from the fashionable Bishopthorpe Road, rated 9th by the Times Newspaper as the trendiest places to live in the UK (2013). The parade of artisan shops, bars and restaurants won the prestigious national title Great British High Street of the Year (2015).

Bishopthorpe Road lies just to the South of the city centre and is bordered by the ancient City Walls. A short riverside walk takes you into the heart of city. Nearby is the beautiful Rowntree Park offering stunning lakeside walks and an extensive array of play equipment for children of all ages, including some facilities for children with disabilities.

We will meet you at the house on arrival and check out. We live a ten minute drive away and will be there if you need us but otherwise you have the place to yourselves.

Getting around couldn't be easier with everything you need quite literally on your doorstep - you won't need your car with this location. For those with a little less mobility you can catch the number 66 bus for a short ride into the city centre and then onwards to the University of York.  Arrival by train is very easy as we are located around 10 minutes walk from the station and a direct bus route and taxis are available 24 hours a day outside York Railway Station. If you plan to arrive with bicycles we provide secure storage and a dedicated rear entrance.  Long stay parking and electric vehicle charging points are available at Nunnery Lane car park, a short walk from the property.
