About

The Bar Convent Guest House offers comfortable, convenient bed and breakfast accommodation within five minutes' walk of York Rail Station. The Grade I Listed buildings also house an award-winning café, private garden, conferencing facilities and an interactive exhibition telling the three-hundred-year story of the site.

The Bar Convent is England's oldest living convent, with a religious community of sisters still on site today. It welcomes visitors of all faiths and none.

There are twenty guest bedrooms, most of which are en suite and newly refurbished for winter 2015. A few rooms with shared bathroom are available for travellers on a budget. Included in the price of each room is a choice for guests of either a Full English or continental breakfast, for which The Bar Convent received a Visit England Breakfast Award in 2015.

Check-in time is from 3pm, except by special arrangement, and luggage can be stored for you at no cost. A disabled toilet and baby changing facilities are also available.

The Bar Convent prides itself on providing friendly service, clean and comfortable rooms, and great value for money.

With York Rail Station only around the corner, and the city centre only ten minutes away on foot, location is second-to-none and ensures peace and tranquility alongside excellent access to York's fabulous array of attractions.
