About us

Rosedale House is a beautiful detached house standing proud above the pretty village of Welburn amidst the Howardian Hills. Originally built in the 18th century, local tradition suggests that the carved heads on the front of the house are those of King Neptune and the Earl of Carlisle. Set back from the village with a small walled courtyard, Rosedale House offers a perfect choice for exploring this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The cosy sitting room provides a perfect retreat after indulging in a sumptuous dinner in the local inn or after serving local produce in the dining room, produced in the well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms offer a perfect night's rest with a choice of a sumptuous super king-size bed or twin beds, a romantic king-size double bedroom and a small single bedroom. Welburn is nestled between the historic city of York and the North Yorkshire Moors. There are some lovely market towns around and about, including the charming market town of Malton with some of the best food shops around and Helmsley with its historic architecture and a wide range of independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. This is a superb base for walkers as the area offers a network of footpaths offering wonderful views. For cyclists there are fantastic on and off road routes. The magnificent 18th century Castle Howard is one of England's finest historic houses, remaining home to the Howard family. Discover the world-renowned collections as guides share stories of the house and family.

Explore the beautiful parkland dotted with lakes, fountains and statues, woodland trails, summer boat trips and an adventure playground. Nunnington Hall is home to the Carlisle Collection which is a fantastic collection of miniature rooms including Queen Anne's drawing room.
