Our guests say they find that we are ideally placed for Castle Howard and getting into York as well as day trips into the National Park (30 mins) and the coast (45 mins) and they really love returning to the peace and quiet here after a days sightseeing. Bring your dog/s along too as we are pet friendly and surrounded by scenic traffic free woods and rolling farmland to walk the dogs in. There is a charge of just £15 per dog stay (2 max or 3 if small breed) and doggy day care may be available on request too.

Road Directions

Travelling from the South, West & East  It's best to use the A64 and leave it at the turning for Flaxton  Go through the village, over the level crossing and take the second right after the level crossing which is signposted to High Stittenham and Bulmer  Go to the T junction, turn right and after 200 metres turn left for High Stittenham  Travel up the hill to the T junction, turn right and go through two open farm gates and we are the first of the two cottages  Travelling from the North  It's quickest to use the A19 and head for York  Come off the A19 at Easingwold and take the turning for Stillington  Travel through Stillington and turn right at the signpost for Sheriff Hutton  At a mini roundabout, carry straight on for another 2 miles and look out for a Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty sign and very soon after take the next left turn, at a sign saying to " High Stittenham only ".Travel up the hill on a single track lane to a T junction, turn right and go through two open farm gates and we are the first of the two cottages .

Or take Bus Route 181 from York Station to Castle Howard and ask to get off at Skegmer Lane junction, tell the driver its where the Howardian Hills Area Of Outstanding National Beauty sign is and then walk in the same direction as the bus and take the first left up Ashbank Lane and after a half mile turn right and we are the 3rd property on the left.
