Abbeygate House is an attractive Georgian style town house in a central location of York with the added bonus of free on site private parking for a maximum of two cars. Situauted on a prestigious development close to the river the beautifully furnished house looks out onto the medieval city walls. It is within a few minutes walk of all the York attractions and also two minutes walk from the popular Bishopthorpe Road which offers a range of independent shops, delis, cafes and restaurants.

Abbeygate is arranged over three floors. Downstairs is the recently re-fitted kitchen, a shower room and a double bedroom with a king size bed. On the first floor is the lounge which leads out on to a balcony, another double bedroom with a king size bed and also a shower room. On the second floor is a bathroom, twin bedroom and two small single bedrooms. The kitchen was refitted in January 2018 and provides plenty of good quality crockery, utensils and pans etc. There is a microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine.

Free WiFi is available, plus satellite TV.

A cot and highchair are available on request.

Road Directions

Abbeygate house is at 2A Bishopgate Street, and satellite navigation using the post code (YO23 1JH) takes you to the front of the house but as access is from the rear of the property the following directions will take you to where you need to be:-

From the A64 follow the A1036 in to York. Continue straight on for just over two miles until you reach the traffic lights at Mickelgate Bar when you need to be in the right hand lane. Turn right into Nunnery Lane and continue with the city walls to your left. The road becomes Price’s Lane and becomes one way at which point please move into the right hand lane. At the junction cross over the hatched area into the road called Clementhorpe (to the left of The Swan pub) and then take the second turning on the left into Postern Close. After approx 50 metres at the point where the road turns to the right, turn left onto the paved area and Abbeygate House and its neighbour is through some tall brick gate posts ahead.

Public Transport Directions

Abbeygate house is at 2A Bishopgate Street, but as access is from the rear of the property the following directions from York Station will take you to where you need to be:- On leaving the station cross over the road and turn right. Follow the path along side the city walls as it turns left and then up the hill towards Micklegate Bar. Keep straight on at the crossing and down Nunnery Lane which turns into Prices Lane. At the junction where the road forks, cross over the hatched area into the road called Clementhorpe (to the left of The Swan pub),then take the second left into Postern Close. At the point where the road turns to the right turn keft onto a paved area and Abbeygate House and its neighbour is through some tall brick gate posts ahead of you.
