Abbey Guest House garden

About us

The Abbey Guest House is a small and personal guest house that has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Owners Jane & Kingsley are delighted to welcome you to this special riverside location which is just a very short walk - along the river path or through the Museum Gardens - into the heart of historic York.

With tea or coffee and homemade cake on arrival, your break is sure to get off to a great start.

All the bedrooms are en-suite and have power showers, with the front two rooms benefitting from fabulous riverside views.
Cosy and calm with a neutral colour scheme, the bedrooms are perfect to relax and unwind in. Comfortable beds with pure egyptian cotton bed linen, feather pillows and duvets will ensure a good night’s sleep.

Our award winning breakfast menu, freshly cooked to order, reflects the seasons and lighter options such as Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs, Pancakes or Eggs Benedict are on offer as an alternative to the traditional English breakfast. Gluten Free & Vegan/Vegetarian options are also available. In the summer months, breakfast can be served on our terrace, overlooking the River Ouse. You are welcome to make the most of the terrace and garden at any time of the day and perhaps spend some time watching the world go by.

You can park your car in our private car park at the side of our house, for no additional charge, and leave the car to walk to all the city attractions. If you are arriving by train, we are an easy five minute walk from the train station.

We love living in York and are happy to provide our guests with information on what to see and do, our thoughts on the best places to eat and how to make the most of your visit to York.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.
