About us

A peaceful retreat located in the heart of the city just yards from the Minster and within easy walking distance of a vast array of bars, restaurants, museums and York’s unique selection of individual shops not to be found generally on the high street.

This quirky townhouse dating back to circa 1770 has been sympathetically restored to provide all the comforts you would expect from a modern home. The property is arranged over 4 floors and is centrally heated throughout. The property has free wifi access and a small courtyard at the rear to enjoy some peaceful outdoor space whilst discussing the day’s activities. The property is just yards from the Dean’s garden – a place of peaceful reflection in a green open space, and within easy walking distance of the museum gardens and the river for anyone fancying a picnic in the heart of the city.

The accommodation comprises :

Ground floor
- Fully equipped kitchen with cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, and freezer. Pantry contains washing machine, ironing board and iron
- Dining room with oak table and leather chairs

First floor
- Comfortable and spacious lounge with fireplace, leather furniture. High quality TV and blu-ray/DVD player. Bose speaker which connects via bluetooth to any compatible device to play your choice of music and PS3 games console plus games
- House bathroom which includes bath, separate shower, hand basin, toilet and heated towel rail

Second floor
- Double bedroom with original fireplace, wardrobe and chest of drawers
- Twin bedroom with combination wardrobe and drawer storage space
- Second bathroom with separate shower, hand basin, toilet and heated towel rail

Third floor
- Large double bedroom with metal frame bed, wardrobe and dressing table

Outside

- To the rear of the property is an enclosed small courtyard with seating and small table

All bedding and linen provided is high quality cotton. All bedrooms have hairdryers, mirrors, bedside tables and lamps.

Parking is included for one car in a designated parking space a short walk from the property. It is possible to unload baggage by parking outside the property for a few minutes only. Further parking is available at City of York Council car parks located close by.

Tourist information is provided in the property and is regularly updated with current visitor events and attractions.

Please note:
- The property would be unsuitable to anyone who has difficulty in ascending stairs
- Bookings for stag / hen / single sex parties will not be accepted out of respect for the property’s tranquil setting and proximity to York Minster.
- Earliest check in time 15:00

TAKE THE OUTER RING ROAD (A1237) TO THE NORTH OF YORK AND FOLLOW SIGNS FOR A19. HEAD SOUTH ON THE A19 TOWARDS THE CITY CENTRE. AT BOOTHAM BAR (BAR WALLS WILL BE IN FRONT OF YOU) FOLLOW THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT, PAST THE THEATRE ROYAL ON THE LEFT. TURN LEFT AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS ONTO DUNCOMBE PLACE, HEADING DIRECTLY TOWARDS THE MINSTER. TURN LEFT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE WEST DOOR OF THE MINSTER (IT IS A COBBLED AREA THAT IS FOR ACCESS AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC ONLY). YOU WILL SEE A LARGE SET OF GATES AND PRECENTORS COURT IS TO THE LEFT OF THESE GATES (THERE IS A SIGNPOST ON THE CORNER). NUMBER 7 IS THE BLACK DOOR ON THE LEFT. YOU CAN UNLOAD THE CAR OUTSIDE THE PROPERTY AND THIS IS A PARKING PERMIT WITH DIRECTIONS TO THE PARKING SPACE ON THE DINING ROOM TABLE SHOULD SOMEONE NOT BE THERE TO GREET YOU. THE PARKING IS A SHORT WALK AWAY.

BY TRAIN:

TURN LEFT OUT OF THE STATION AND FOLLOW STATION ROAD. CROSS THE RIVER OUSE OVER LENDAL BRIDGE. HEAD FOR THE MINSTER WHICH IS VISIBLE FROM THE BRIGDE, AND AS YOU APPROACH THE MINSTER JUST BEFORE YOU ARRIVE AT THE WEST DOOR (THE DOOR YOU CAN SEE) TURN LEFT ONTO PRECENTORS COURT. IT IS A RELAXING AND PICTURESQUE 10 MINUTE WALK IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO TAKE A TAXI.
