About us

This three storey, four bedroomed apartment is located on York’s most famous and historic street. Its central location makes it an ideal base for exploring the huge variety of attractions and shops which York has to offer, as well as being a stones-throw from a plethora of bars and restaurants, including York’s most haunted pub!

The front door to 34a Shambles is located on a tiny Snickleway by the York Glass Shop. Our welcoming entrance hall leads to the first floor where you will find a king bedroom, bunk bedroom and bathroom with WC and shower.

Stairs to second floor lead to the main open plan living area containing the kitchen and dining spaces. The lounge has a 42” Freeview TV plus DVD player. There is also another bathroom containing WC and shower on this floor.

The third floor houses a double bedroom and a twin room, both with spectacular views over the medieval rooftops to York Minster.

Children of all ages are welcomed at 34a Shambles. We aim to provide as many useful baby- and child-related items as we can to ensure you have a comfortable ‘home from home’ stay with your little one(s), so even if we don’t list something which you may need, please do not hesitate to ask. We have small children ourselves so are bound to have what you need!

Induction Hob – Manufacturer recommends this product is NOT used by anyone with a pacemaker.

Baby monitor, travel cot (inc linen), highchair, baby bath, blackout blind, stair gate, potty, bouncy chair, bed guard, bottle steriliser, baby/child toys – all available upon request.

Private parking – this is available 5-10 minutes walk away and can be pre-arranged at extra cost.

Stairs – the property is laid out over 3 floors (1st, 2nd and 3rd) so contains a lot of stairs.

View – spectacular views of York Minster.

Road Directions

Train – easiest access is by train to York. From there you can walk to 34a Shambles, taking approx 15 minutes. Turn left out of the station and walk along Station Road towards the River Ouse. Cross the Ouse over Lendal bridge and turn right at Costa Coffee down the road called Lendal. Turn left just after the Post Office onto St Helen’s Square and then right onto Davygate at Betty’s and continue until you see the Disney Store on your right (you are now on Parliament Street). Turn left here, down the side of Pret a Manger onto Jubbergate. With Gert & Henry’s in front of you turn right, then head down the side of Gert & Henry’s, until you come to Shambles. Turn right and head down the street, turning right down the snickleway just after York Glass Shop.

Car – It is not possible to drive to the flat, however drop off and unloading is possible at the end of the street by Marks & Spencer, or parking is available a short 5-10 minute walk away by prior agreement and at extra cost. Postcode for drop-off using SatNav is YO1 7LX. Postcode for parking is YO1 9TP. Please contact us for full driving instructions as city centre restrictions mean access is dependant on arrival time.
