York Gin

The York Gin shop

The York Gin shop is open from the 4 July 2020

You’ll find the York Gin shop in one of the city’s most iconic buildings - the 16th Century Sir Thomas Herbert’s House on Pavement, just over the road from Shambles. We’re open seven days a week.

Along with our award-winning gins (the only gins made in York) and gift packs, you’ll find beautiful York Gin branded kitchenware and gifts - many of these are also made in York.

We also sell a selection of other top Yorkshire gins.

You can taste any of our gins for free. Children get lemonade and dogs get Yorkshire water and lots of attention.

Displays around the shop provide a history of the property (owned by York Conservation Trust) and the story of the York Gin Company.

Our gins

All the York Gin Company’s spirits are hand-made in the city. They are the only gins made in the city of York.

Our gins have won top awards at the world's most prestigious competitions. York Gin Old Tom won both Best English Old Tom at the World Gin Awards and it won Gold Outstanding at the International Wine & Spirit Competition and York Gin Outlaw won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition - both in 2019. These gins are among the best in the world.

At the Great Taste Awards 2019, our London Dry was described as ‘perfect’ while judges said York Gin Roman Fruit was ‘mouthwatering’.

We use traditional methods to make all our award-winning gins in our beautiful copper still named Ebor, after the Roman name for York, Eboracum.
