Over 70 attractions, events and offers!

Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 January 2022 with offers continuing all week

Explore the city and be a tourist for the weekend – for free! Organised by Make It York, this annual Festival is our way of saying a HUGE ‘thank you’ for the warm welcome you give to York’s 8.4 million visitors.

How do I take part?

  • York Residents’ Festival is open to all York Residents who have a valid YorkCard – you’ll need one card per person to gain free admission to attractions and benefit from the special offers included in this brochure.
  • Pre-booking is required for some attractions, tours and events
  • Some venues have limited free tickets and operate on a first come first serve basis
  • Students studying in the city can also take part with a valid York student ID card.

How do I get my YorkCard?

The YorkCard offers residents some great discounts at top attractions and leisure facilities across the city of York. The YorkCard is now available as a virtual card so you can apply online and there’s no need to visit the library to collect it. If you prefer you can visit any York library to get a physical card.

Available to all who live or work within the York area, a York Card costs £6 for adult residents or £10 for non-residents who work in the city. The card is free for children and young people up to the age of 18 and adults on qualifying benefits. Valid for 12 months, a York Card offers potential savings of over £50 a year – based on only one visit to each attraction.
