Accomodation Providers - we need you!
We're expanding the city occupancy survey and we are seeking support from accommodation providers of all types, in particular those of you with B and B’s, guest houses and self-catering properties.
This is in response to the Yorkshire–wide occupancy survey ceasing a year ago, which created a gap in knowledge. As the number of accommodation providers continues to grow in York, with 48 hotels, 130 B and B’s and guesthouses and 145 self-catering properties (as at the end of 2018), this knowledge gap needs addressing and the expanded York Occupancy Survey will achieve this for York.
All participants in our occupancy survey will receive an in depth monthly benchmarking report sent directly to you. Additionally, the summary of overall results is available through the monthly intelligence updates in the Visit York enewsletter. York’s hotel occupancy survey results for the previous year are available to view. You will be given access to T-stats Pro; an industry leading database to enter your data securely into and which will allow you to evaluate your own business performance and compare this to a range of market factors which may impact on this, including footfall, weather, exchange rates and many more.
As well as the benefit of you being able to benchmark your own performance with similar properties in and around York, the market intelligence from this survey will allow Visit York to monitor a range of tourism trends. These include supply and demand for all types of accommodation in the city and tourism motivations and behaviours. It will also provide robust data from which to calculate annual visitor volume and value headlines and will also enable us to share these insights with tourism businesses and other partners, such as the City of York Council.
