About Us
York Unlocked organises the opening of buildings of architectural merit to the public, free of charge, to foster public appreciation of the built landscape of the City of York. This year buildings include; Herbert House, Old Palace, The Guildhall, St William’s College, De Grey Rooms, Kings Manor, Lodge Duncombe Place, Hudson Quarter, Monk & Micklegate Bars, Chapel (St Johns Uni), Bootham School, Castlegate House, Garforth House, many of the churches plus a selection of RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) award-winning projects.
York Unlocked is based on the successful models created 30 yrs ago by the Open Doors and Open House festivals in UK and across Europe which attract thousands of ordinary people to explore their urban landscape and experience the great buildings of their city each year
Opening Times
York Unlocked is run by volunteers. We aim to respond to enquiries/phone called during the hours of 10-4pm weekdays
