Yorkshire Day

This year, for Yorkshire Day (1st August) Make It York, the York BID and City of York Council are working together to host a full weekend of activities and are inviting businesses to be part of the celebrations.

What’s on?

We’ll be announcing full details over the coming weeks, with plans including giant TV screens in the city centre showing archived footage of York and fun family movies - with deckchairs for residents and visitors to sit back and enjoy the films.

Fun selfie points will be set up in the city centre complete with Yorkshire scenery and props for people to capture their photos with and share on social media and the city will also be adorned with Yorkshire bunting and flags.

How to get involved?

  • Help us celebrate the weekend by dressing your windows with a Yorkshire Day theme – from Yorkshire Day flags and bunting to white roses and Yorkshire flat caps, we’d love to see how creative you can get! Share your pictures on social media using #York_ShireDay and #LoveYork tagging @VisitYorkBiz and @theyorkbid so we can repost your window creations. Please email  info@theyorkbid.com  if you would like a Yorkshire flag and/or a Yorkshire day poster for your business and the York BID team will get this out to you ahead of the weekend.
  • You can also add any of your own Yorkshire Day offers and events to the Visit York website to feature on our Yorkshire Day hub.  Simply submit your event or offer here
  • Share the Yorkshire Day cheer on your social media channels by using the assets for Twitter/Facebook/Instagram and Instagram story

More details will be revealed soon including a toolkit with Yorkshire Day assets for posting across your social media channels in the run up to and during the weekend event.
