We represent York’s tourism sector, which generates £564 million annual visitor spend, attracts 6.9 million visitors and supports 19,000 jobs.

The sector is in good health. We work closely with Visit York Members, partners and the industry to make sure we are making the most of the economic benefits of tourism for the city.

Working in partnership with national tourism bodies such as VisitBritain and VisitEngland means we can add value to our marketing campaigns - in both the UK and overseas – reaching audiences worldwide as well as sharing ideas, opportunities and knowledge.

Working as part of marketing consortiums such as England’s Historic Cities, has made sure York has benefitted from UK wide marketing campaigns and we have developed excellent trade relationships throughout our membership of the European Tourism Association (ETOA) and UKInbound.

VisitBritain & VisitEngland

The national tourism agency plays a unique role in building England’s tourism product, raising Britain’s profile worldwide, increasing the volume and value of tourism exports and developing England and Britain’s visitor economy.
