Finalists Revealed for York’s Top BnB

Where in York can you enjoy the best bacon, sausage and egg in the country, the comfiest bed, fluffiest duvets or indeed the warmest of Yorkshire welcomes? The answer is nearing conclusion as today Visit York has announced the five finalists who will battle it out for the prestigious title of York’s best bed and breakfast in the 2014 Visit York Tourism Awards. These Awards recognise the cream of the crop in tourism across the city.

Tourism Ambassador Damian Cruden announced the finalists today as follows:

Damian Cruden, Artistic Director at York Theatre Royal, helped announce the winners today and said, ‘We’ve all got fond memories of a place we stayed where the owners made us feel very special. It’s so important for all of us in business in the city that our visitors have a happy and comfortable stay and I’d like to personally congratulate our five finalists and wish them all the best of luck.’

For the first time, York’s best B&B will be decided upon by the great British public. Finalists will be uploaded online and a nationwide Twitter and Facebook campaign has been launched today to encourage votes for the five finalists at or, using the hashtag #faveyorkbnb. Votes can also be made at

It’s down to the public now to decide on the winner and we’re excited to find who this will be. In a growing global tourism market, it’s vitally important we recognise and acknowledge excellence to ensure York retains its competitive edge.’

A Black Tie Awards ceremony announcing all fourteen tourism awards winners will be held on Thursday 8th May in the nostalgic and unique setting of Station Hall at the National Railway Museum. Winners will have the opportunity to then go forward to the regional White Rose Awards and national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.
