Spring Food Festival in York

York Food Festival comes to life on 1st and 2nd June at the Spring version of the Festival. The 2013 program will be launched at the Spring weekend incorporating the 2013 theme ‘Food and Science.’

The weekend sees the famous Food Festival markets return to Parliament Street to showcase local Yorkshire produce and home-grown chefs. Wander around the producer markets, spanning the length of Parliament Street, and be enticed by home-grown Yorkshire meats and vegetables, along with Farmhouse cheese and Artisan breads to name a few. Taste samples from stalls, including seasonal asparagus and ripe strawberries. Or, sit in the bar or cafe and enjoy a local Ale or glass of wine from the bars.

There will also be chef demonstrations in their demonstration tent from festival favourites such as Steph Moon (Great British Menu) and Nick Evans of Middlethorpe Hall and a chance to fundraise for York Children’s Hospital with a cook off from their kid’s cookbook.

Entrance to the food markets and chef demonstrations is free of charge and there is a fun fair to keep the little ones entertained. The weekend will see York Food Festival launch their September festival with a bang, with announcements of plans for their Food and Science theme to take centre stage.
