News Release – Issued by York Food and Drink Festival

Enter York Food Festival’s ‘Food in Words & Pictures’ Competitions to win some tasty prizes!

Food has been moving people to poetry and art for centuries and nowadays; you can’t browse the internet without drooling over a foodie photograph. From Van Gogh’s fishy still life paintings to Shakespeare’s fruity sonnets, good grub has proved an inspiration to artists, writers and photographers.

Now the York Food & Drink Festival, in collaboration with YorkMix, is searching for some of the city’s own talented artists, writers and photographers to celebrate the festival theme for 2015 Food In Words And Pictures.

If you can take a photograph, draw or paint a picture, or write a poem on the theme ‘Yorkshire Food’ you could win some tasty prizes and have your piece displayed during York Food Festival, which runs from the 18th-27th September 2015.

There are two categories for each competition: under 16s and over 16s. The winners from each category will receive some exclusive foodie prizes as well as the chance to have their artwork/poetry displayed in a gallery in York. The closing date is midnight on Sunday, September 27th and winners will be announced in the week after the Festival.

To enter, visit and follow the competition links to upload your entry. The full rules are also available on the website.
