News release - Issued by LandLove magazine

The results are in... York is Britain's Favourite City

Country lifestyle magazine LandLove has announced the winners in its fourth annual awards celebrating Britain's countryside champions.

The LandLove Magazine Awards 2017, voted for by readers, received 25,000 votes across 10 categories recognising artisan producers, popular landmarks, wildlife organisations, places to eat and clothing brands, among others.

The awards, which followed on from the success of the previous three years, saw voters from across the UK and Ireland, as well as further afield. Approximately 90 per cent of voters were based in the UK, however countries such as Italy, Germany, the USA and Bulgaria also cast their votes showcasing the popularity of the best of British.

Acting Editor, Lauren Morton, says, 'We always receive such a great response from our readers when our awards come around and this year was no different. Most of the nominees have featured in the magazine in the past year or so and that means regular readers of LandLove will recognise many of the companies nominated when it comes time to vote. We try to nominate brands or companies who the team have met personally whenever possible, whether that be on our travel trips or through PR's, and therefore we know that their ethos is similar to ours.

'This year many of the categories were neck and neck right until the end when we saw several popular names take the lead. We saw a lot of social media buzz from our nominees, some posting weekly mentions of our awards which attributed to it being hotly contested, especially at the end. We're really grateful to the nominees for their promotion of their nominations and we know that its success is partly down to their efforts. Congratulations to the winners.'

The LandLove Magazine Awards featured 10 categories including Britain's favourite place to eat, food producer, drinks producer, National Park, wildlife organisation, active clothing brand, landmark, city, forest and getaway. The winners were as follows:

Britain's favourite landmark... Stonehenge
Britain's favourite place to eat... The Forest Side, Lake District
Britain's favourite forest... The Forest of Dean
Britain's favourite drinks producer... Apple Orphanage, Isle of Man
Britain's favourite National Park... Lake District
Britain's favourite city... York
Britain's favourite food producer... Noa Bakehouse, Isle of Man
Britain's favourite clothing brand... The North Face
Britain's favourite wildlife organisation... The Wildlife Trusts
Britain's favourite getaway... Forest Holidays

For the 2018 LandLove Magazine Awards, Lauren is changing the way some nominees are selected, inviting readers to send the LandLove editorial team their suggestions for the categories. 'We know that there are many amazing British artisans and we can't see them all on our travels – as much as we try – but we know our readers have a keen eye and for 2018 we want to hear who has been going above and beyond and should be recognised. So, if you'd like to nominate your favourite place to stay, drinks producer, food producer, place to eat or similar, we will be taking all suggestions into consideration when we choose our 2018 nominees.'

To send LandLove magazine your suggestions for 2018 simply email landlove@hbmuk.co.uk stating the name of the company, a website and a short description of why you're nominating them.

The closing date for suggested nominees is 1st June 2018, while voting in the 2018 awards will open in October.
