Shoppers visiting McArthurGlen Designer Outlet York this Christmas will be pleased to hear that the award-winning Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland, everyone’s favourite festive event, will be returning to the centre from 17th November 2018 to 6th January 2019.  Tickets are now on sale with early bird savings of £2 off adult, child and concession tickets until 30th September 2018.

Home to the North of England’s largest outdoor ice rink, The Ice Factor, with a 30ft high sparkling Christmas tree as its centrepiece, this magical setting is perfect for a fun family day out. The rink boasts an impressive 975 square metre surface and is surrounded by an alpine skate hire chalet, rink-side café, illuminated log cabins, reindeer, Christmas trees and a viewing platform.  Snowmen and penguin stabilisers are aplenty, and a team of highly experienced ice marshals is on hand to get everyone skating.

Papa Kitchen, the cosy alpine-themed, après-skate café with windows the entire length of the ice rink, is the ideal place to warm up after a session on the ice and watch the skaters glide past. The fully licensed bar offers mulled wine, York’s finest ales and the best hot chocolate in town. The brand-new menu from popular local café, The Perky Peacock, offers a variety of delicious homemade dishes including chilli and chips, and for those with a sweet tooth, cakes and cookies.

New for 2018 are the children’s party packages and dedicated party area inside the café, making every celebration even more special.

The popular vintage funfair returns with rides dating from the golden era of fairgrounds. Visitors can enjoy a rare Brooklands Dodgems from 1937, a stunning 1930s Chair-o-Plane, a recently renovated and scary Ghost Train dating from the 1950s, an exhilarating 1936 Speedway and two exquisite children’s rides: a 1947 Muffin the Mule Autodrome and Hush Hush the Monorail, the oldest ride, made in 1933.  Plus there are games stalls offering prizes galore!

No visit to Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland would be complete without seeing Santa and his elves. Follow the path through the snowy enchanted woodland, where fairy-tale creatures glow in the dark and trees sparkle with lights to find his cosy log cabin and collect a special gift for every child.

Mike Thomas, Centre Manager at McArthurGlen York, said; “Christmas at the centre would definitely not be the same without Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland and we are thrilled to host this popular festive event once again. We take great pride in creating a special atmosphere for guests and this year will be no exception.”

Haydn Hunter, Event Manager at The Ice Factor added, “This is our 14th season of The Ice Factor and we are delighted to see so many families coming back year after year to enjoy the exhilaration of outdoor skating, plus all the fun of the fair. We are the largest outdoor ice rink in the North of England and the wooded backdrop and giant Christmas tree in the centre of the rink make for a wonderful space to skate. Our experienced ice marshals are already excited to be returning for another season.”

Tickets for a one-hour skating session at The Ice Factor are priced at £10.95 for adults and £9.95 for children. Family packages are available for families of three, four or five. Special packages are also available for parties, schools, clubs and youth groups, with discounts applying to groups of 20 or more. If booked by 30th September an early bird saving of £2 will apply.  Booking is recommended for skating at The Ice Factor. Tickets for skating as well as tickets for the funfair can also be purchased on site. For full details of prices and times visit www.yorkshireswinterwonderland.com  or call 01653 619169.
