    Royal florist Simon Lycett adds celebrity flower power to Bloom!

    Fresh from RHS Hampton Court Palace, celebrity and royal florist Simon Lycett is bringing ‘floral fabulousness’ to historic York’s horticultural festival Bloom! on Friday 6 July.  Bloom! is a city-wide celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the Ancient Society of York Florists, the oldest horticultural society in the world, as well as a wider celebration of York’s horticultural heritage including pioneers such as James Backhouse & Son’s and George Russell, developer of the Russell Hybrid Lupin.  It runs from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 July 2018.

    Sixteen of York’s top tourism businesses celebrated a win in the Visit York annual Tourism Awards last night (Thursday 21 June).  Winners were announced at a prestigious Black Tie awards ceremony, held in the Grand Station Hall of the National Railway Museum, compered by breakfast show hosts Ben Fry and Roxanne Pallett from Minster FM.

    Users of York’s popular Park & Ride service will be able to enjoy the attractions in the city centre for longer this summer after it was agreed that the timetable should be extended into the evenings for a ten-week trial period.
