Mount School York


The Mount School York benefits from a range of fantastic facilities. Set in 16 acres of beautiful green grounds, yet located within minutes of York city centre, The Mount School York is an ideal venue for a wide variety of corporate and sporting events, residential stays, weddings and residential courses. During the evenings, at the weekend and throughout the school holidays, the School facilities are available to let to the general public.


The School is easily accessible for delegates within easy reach of York Train Station, the A59, the A19 and the A64. The School has an extensive selection of facilities for hire suitable for a wide variety of events; current clients include choirs, orchestras, gymnastics clubs, swimming clubs, and charitable organisations. There is ample car parking with space for 150 cars.


Concerts & Conferences

The Mount offers facilities to host conferences, concerts, training courses and more. Available for hire at weekends and during the school holidays The Mount can host a variety of events from exhibitions, concerts and conferences.

With a spacious hall seating up to 180 people, the Mount School Hall offers the space and facilities for small-scale staged events including drama & music productions, lectures and conferences.  Classrooms can also be provided as break-out areas, changing rooms, practice space or exhibition areas for events and conferences.


Rooms for groups of up to 20 people may also be booked during the school day on some occasions. Lunch and refreshments, can be provided by our award-winning caterers, Wilson Vale, at an additional cost.


Residential Accommodation

During the school holidays The Mount School York’s boarding accommodation is available to hire.  In previous years, the facilities have been used by choirs performing in York, arts & crafts courses and international school groups.  If you would like to learn more about our accommodation then please to get in touch.


Sporting Facilities

The Mount School York has a range of sporting facilities. During the evenings, at the weekend and throughout our school holidays they offer the hire of their sports and recreational facilities to the general public. Current clients include; football teams, badminton clubs, swimming schools, gymnastics clubs, handball and netball teams.

Road Directions

By Car – From the A1M, take the A64 for York and then the A1036 exit (signed York City Centre, Race Course and National Railway Museum). Keep left and follow the signs for City Centre. Take the second exit at the Tesco roundabout and after 1km you will pass the Knavesmire (York Race Course) on your right. 250m further on you will see the Elmbank Hotel on your left, take the left turn at the hotel and the School car park is at the top of the short hill.


From the A59 At the Poppleton Roundabout take the exit marked York (A59) Railway Museum.  Continue along the road following signs for the ‘Railway Museum’.  After crossing Holgate Bridge take the first right on to Dalton Terrace.  The School is on your right. To continue to the School car park, take the next right onto Driffield Terrace.  The entrance to the School car park is on your left as the road bends.

Public Transport Directions

By Rail – York is a major rail centre; London to York is one of Britain’s fastest rail routes at just 1 hour 46 minutes. Edinburgh, Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham are similarly linked with high-speed routes. If you are travelling to York by train, The Mount is approximately 10 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by taxi from York Station.
