York is famous for its Viking and Roman roots so why not check out the Yorkshire Museum, where you’ll discover the treasures of York’s past. New for 2018 is the Yorkshire’s Jurassic World exhibition, where you can meet the dinosaurs and sea monsters that once roamed our landscapes.  Visit the National Railway Museum, the UK’s largest railway museum, and discover 300 years of history and 1,000,000 objects that changed the world. You can see traditional steam locomotives such as the Stephenson's Rocket or more modern day marvels such as the Eurostar. If flight is your thing then a visit to  the Yorkshire Air Museum is a must, the site is an authentic wartime airbase and is  home to the only Halifax Bomber in Europe. At the York Castle Museum you can wonder through the cobbled streets of Victorian York and venture into the prison cells that once held Dick Turpin. The York Army Museum tells the story of The Royal Dragoon Guards and The Yorkshire Regiment and their epic  journey covering the last 300 years, across the worlds continents.
