Haworth, Bolton Abbey & Steam Trains - visit the West Yorkshire Pennine Village of Haworth (made famous by the Bronte sisters and home to the Bronte Parsonage Museum), Bingley Five Rise Locks (the most spectacular feature of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal), Bolton Abbey (where you will see the stunning setting of the ruins of the 12th Century Augustinian Monastery), the picture postcard traditional Yorkshire Dales village of Linton (with its stone bridges and limestone falls) and the option to travel by steam train on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway.
Captain Cook Country - explore Captain Cook Country to commemorate the 250th anniversary of his first voyage to the Pacific in 1768. Visit the village of Marton where James Cook was born then learn about his formative years with a walk in his footsteps at Great Ayton, site of the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum, before visiting the picturesque fishing village of Staithes, where the young James Cook first experienced local seafaring and smuggling traditions. Enjoy free time in Whitby, where Captain Cook trained in the merchant navy, with options to visit The Captain Cook Memorial Museum, view Whitby Abbey, take a short trip out to sea on the Bark Endeavour scale replica of Cook's famous vessel, or just sample Fish & Chips from the famous Magpie Café – the choice is yours!
