Sherry is possibly the most underrated of all wines. Its production in a small area in South-Western Spain hasn’t changed in close to two hundred years and it remains an internationally renowned & respected element of Spain’s wine culture.
On our introduction to Sherry tasting event, our very own Sherry Educator and Sherry Knight (yes, you read that correctly!), Rob Scott-South, will take you on a journey through the sherry triangle, giving you an insight and introduction into the world of sherry!
Although most people automatically think of sweet sherries, the majority of sherry wines are actually dry to medium. Our Introduction to Sherry tasting event will focus on five different styles of sherry; Fino Sherry, Amontillado Sherry, Oloroso Sherry, Oloroso Dulce (Cream) Sherry and Nectar PX Sherry. Starting at dry, moving through to medium styles and then onto sweet sherries, these have been chosen as a perfect introduction into the different styles of sherry and will help you discover where your tastes lie.
Rob will tutor the sherries you’ll be trying as well as teaching you about the sherry triangle, the Solera System (the way that sherry is produced), the different styles of sherries and how they pair with certain foods.
A 50ml measure of all five sherries will be served alongside a small nibble chosen to highlight the taste and nuances of each type.
