WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PEOPLE GO ASTRAY?
What sets them off? What links the 18th century story of Barry Lyndon, the archetypal lovable bastard of an Irishman abroad, and Sweeney, a 7th century Irish king who went mad and grew feathers?
And this raises the question: why do they fascinate us so much?
A dynamic and raucous storytelling double bill by two Irishwomen (slightly) abroad, on two Irishmen gone (completely) astray, 11 centuries apart.
Sweeney Untethered is a wild journey in the feathery skin of a legendary, ranting bird-king. Like many of us these days, Sweeney is caught betwixt and between worlds, and can seem to settle to anything.
Barry Lyndon: Lover, Liar, Turncoat is a unique take on a literary hero turned folk legend, taking you on a journey right up to present-day Ireland, via hunger strikes and betting shops.
