In amongst the gorgeous Georgian festive decor, hundreds of town-mice have descended on Fairfax House to have their own jolly Christmas celebrations!
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a… um, well actually...
Our traditional Georgian Christmas has been taken over by some very special (but very naughty) town-mouse guests!
Stealing the cheese and wine, hiding in the decorations, even skiing down the banisters… the charming magical scenes of our special town-mouse guests are sure to delight all ages, all whilst the 18th-century-style festive foliage will evoke a family Christmas of a bygone era.
Don’t miss this wonderful wintertime experience celebrating the Christmas traditions of the Georgian townhouse, and the jolly festivities of the Georgian town-mouse: sure to capture the hearts of the whole family.
The town-mice are taking over Fairfax House for their magnificent celebrations between Saturday 19th November 2022 and Sunday 8th January 2023. The house will be closed from Friday 23rd December 2022 until Monday 2nd January 2023. The house is open on Fridays for guided tours only.
This exhibition is free for under 16s.
Admission to the exhibition for adults is included in the normal entry price. It is just £7.50 to rediscover the magic of a Georgian Christmas in York, with a special mouse-y twist. Pre-book online to secure your tickets, or walk-in on the day.
