Within moments of stepping into the beautifully refurbished Principal York Hotel, it is apparent that it sets the standard for afternoon tea in York and is the perfect place to enjoy the most delicious of British traditions.

Set in the stunning Garden Room, tea-takers can sit back and enjoy wonderful views across the gardens and out to York Minster.

Choose from a selection of loose-leaf teas including Earl Grey as well as a delicate jasmine white tea, once the preserve of the Chinese Imperial family and perhaps also with a glass of Champagne Lanson Pere et Fils.

Next up, dainty finger sandwiches come with a delicious twist on British classics including Duck egg mayo and Uig Lodge smoked salmon. Then come freshly made scones with raspberry jam and clotted cream; and atop the cake stand are pastries, macaroons, éclairs and a wonderful blood orange and white chocolate slice – all of them rich and full of flavour and filling, leaving room for nothing else.
