York has a wide variety of amazing music venues which play host to thousands of artists throughout the year, from grassroots local artists to international chart toppers. These venues have helped develop a rich and diverse range of musical talents in the city of York which has resulted in a great supportive music scene thrive across the region.

York Music Venue Network was set up in 2019 to support and promote venues across the city that promote and encourage live music. It also organises events such as "Songs Under Skies" and "York Life festival" and Streetlife in partnership with Make it York and the University of York for both visitors and residents.
