About Us

Drop-in, browse and borrow books, use the computers or printers , or make use of our quiet study spaces on the first floor. Discover the history and heritage of York in our internationally important Archive and if you have a question we are always happy to help and advise.

You can chill out in our spacious, family friendly cafe serving delicious coffee and hot drinks, locally made cakes and treats, snacks and light meals. The cafe area doubles as a space to discover new artists with changing exhibitions through the year.

We are an accessible, disabled friendly library. Our customer lift gives access to the first floor study space, Archives. and Local History collection. For full accessibility information check our listing on Accessable.

We want everyone to enjoy our building and feel confident when visiting.
