The Balloon Tree is a family run business which has been farming soft fruit and vegetables on this site for over 35 years. Our aim is to produce and sell as much top quality food as possible while offering a platform for local and artisan producers to make a name for themselves and promote their products.

Through our Farmshop we sell a varied range of rare breed meats, locally produced jams and chutneys, seasonal fresh vegetables, free range local eggs, and artisan wines, beers and liqueurs. The outside walls of our Shop are currently lined with decorative squashes and gourds, splashing autumnal shades of oranges, yellows, greens and whites down our walkways.

On our delicatessen we produce and showcase a wide range of lunchtime classics including pork pies, sausage rolls, quiches, belly pork, scotch eggs and deli salads, made locally and in-house. Further to this we house a cheese selection that really offers something for everyone from blues to bries.

In addition to the shop we are an active working farm, which is showcased during our Pick Your Own season. Our season starts in April with our home grown Asparagus, which is available to take home from the farm shop and to sample through our cafe; then moves through the summer months when we highlight our strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, pulling peas and broad beans, through our Pick Your Own events. Then the Pick Your Own season ends in October with our homegrown pumpkins.

This year our PYO Pumpkins will be available from the 25th of September, with plenty of different shaped, sized, and COLOURED pumpkins available. This year Farmer Will has been growing (as well as our usual orange varieties) some Polar Bear Pumpkins, which have a beautiful ghoulish white skin and flesh - great to give some variation to your Halloween scene.

From the 25th of September, we will also reopen our "Track Out Back" - our new jeep ride attraction which has proved a great hit throughout the Summer. The track will be open on weekends from the 25th up to Halloween, as well as the whole week of October half term.

The Balloon Tree Cafe is an award winning establishment that is gradually growing a fan base and reputation that rivals any of York's brilliant eateries. Through our approach to home cooked food and bright friendly interior, we have produced an ambience that keeps customers returning time and time again. Guests are able to relax with a fresh brewed coffee and a piece of cake from our in house bakery, and in the summer months dine alfresco in our landscaped cafe garden while the children play in our ever growing play area.
