Selby Abbey is a 950 year old Grade 1 listed working parish church at the heart of Selby. It is unique in the North of England, as the first monastery to be founded in the North after the Norman Conquest and one of the few in England to have survived as a parish church. The Abbey and its community and filled with incredible stories that are told through panels, trails, leaflets, tour guides, welcomers and at special events throughout the year.

Events are largely focused on music, heritage, the arts and culture and there is a trail available every day for children and families to complete and discover our hidden gems.

Regular tours are held and details can be found on our website. Tours can also be booked via the office at office@selbyabbey.org.uk at a time that suits your visit. We also offer specialist stained glass tours, out of hours tours and tower tours at certain times of year.
