Fish&Forest is a small friendly restaurant serving seasonal and sustainable fish, game and forest foods set on Micklegate in the centre of York. We offer a genuinely warm welcome with personal service and top quality food. We create food with soul!

We take inspiration from the sea, the forest and the Yorkshire countryside. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do and within a year of opening, we were recognised by the Michelin Guide for our commitment to “Sustainable Gastronomy”.

Fish&Forest was founded by Yorkshireman and chef, Stephen Andrews who is dedicated to creating ingredient-led dishes using sustainable and ethical produce and creates the sort of food he loves to eat. Stephen is supported by a young and welcoming front ofhouse team led by Yohan Barthelemy, a French native with years of experience in hospitality and who curates a well-balanced and diverse wine list.

Our small regularly evolving a la carte menu features creative fish and game dishes inspired by the best ingredients of the season - simple seasonal plates allow the ingredients to shine. While our focus is on fish and game, vegetarians and vegans will also find interesting vegetable-led dishes on our short menu.
