Cooper King Distillery is a self-built family-owned distillery in Sutton-on-the-Forest, York, producing award-winning sustainable spirits underpinned by craftsmanship, honesty and adventure. Producing England's first Carbon-negative gins

Our spirits include Cooper King Dry Gin, Cooper King Herb Gin and Cooper King Single Malt Whisky (launching late 2023), as well as a range of other delicious spirits and liqueurs.

THE COOPER KING STORY

We are Abbie and Chris. Once a scientist and an architect, we are now the founders of England’s most exciting new distillery. In 2014, a desire to leave the rat race led us across the globe to Australia in search of sun, sand and adventure. After spending time working with some of the world’s best whisky distillers, we made it our mission to return to Yorkshire to set up a truly independent family-owned distillery.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

All spirits are hand distilled, bottled and labelled here at Cooper King Distillery in Yorkshire. Using state-of-the-art vacuum distillation for the gin and a bespoke Tasmanian copper pot still for the whisky, we bring to the table a range of truly innovative spirits.

Collaborating with independent artists, partnering with local growers and even harvesting honey from our on-site beehives ensures exceptional products are produced, whilst supporting a network of local producers.

HONESTY

Enjoy honest spirits that taste exceptional and benefit the environment, from a distillery powered by 100% green energy. For every bottle sold, one square metre of English woodland is planted through our Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust partnership, making us the first distillery in Europe with 1% for the Planet® accreditation.

ADVENTURE

Inspired by the adventures of great-great-grandfather Charles Cooper King, and fuelled by our experiences in Tasmania and beyond, we’ve self-built and crowd-funded a bold new distillery.
