Stay in the very heart of medieval York and enjoy a truly memorable setting within the ancient city walls.
The space
Full of warmth and character, the accommodation is arranged across three floors and includes:
- a generous kitchen and dining room, ideal for gathering together
- three comfortable bedrooms (two doubles and one twin)
- a bathroom or shower room on each floor for added convenience
- an attic living room with exposed beams, leather chairs, and beanbags, an atmospheric space to relax after a day exploring the city
Guest access
You’ll have exclusive use of the entire property. Enter through the front door on Micklegate and walk along the charming stone-flagged hallway to the rear yard. The apartment door leads up to the first floor - beyond it, a beautifully preserved medieval home awaits.
Other things to note
As with many buildings of this age, you’ll find uneven floors, steep stairs, low ceilings, and narrow doorways—features that are part of its historic charm. Please take care when moving around and mind your head on the stairs.
Micklegate is the historic main gateway into the walled city and is known for its vibrant mix of independent bars and restaurants. You’ll find fantastic dining just moments from your door, including favourites such as Partisan and Skosh. York itself is brimming with excellent pubs, wine bars, and eateries, with many of the best right on your doorstep. Located within the historic city walls, 87 Micklegate is just a five-minute walk from both the train station and the city centre, making it the perfect base for exploring this beautiful and historic city.
