York BID’s York Restaurant Week is back by popular demand, 12-18 October. Returning for the second time this year, it is your opportunity to tuck into some unbeatable food, at mouth-wateringly low prices.

The concept is simple; download a free voucher and redeem at a participating restaurant to get a set menu offering at £5, £10, £15 or £20. Many of York’s premier foodie institutions are taking part, and below we’re treating you to just a flavour of what’s on offer.

£5 The Taylor Made Kitchen

In the lively atmosphere of the historic Shambles Market, you’ll find The Taylor Made Kitchen, an American style food truck offering gourmet street food. During restaurant week you can pick up one of their tasty small boxes and a drink for just £5. You can choose between Mac ‘n cheese, Vietnamese Curry, Loaded Nachos, Dirty Chilli Fries and Pizza Fries. Whatever you go for, it’s sure to hit the spot.

If you are hungry for a Taylor Made feast, they also have offers of £10, £15 and £20 for a larger helping of their exquisite grub.

£10 Zaap Thai Street Food

When you step inside Zaap Thai Street Food, you will feel like you have teleported halfway round the world to the magical hustle and bustle, neon lighting, and funky tuk tuks of Bangkok. This, of course, comes with amazing Thai street food. You can enjoy two courses from their special set menu for just £10. The starters on offer are Thai fish cakes, traditional Chinese steamed prawn dumplings and spring rolls, with a second course choice of chicken or veggie stir fry with red and green peppers, and a black bean sauce or a classic Thai green curry.

£15 Caesars Italian

With incredible views of the Minster’s majestic east side, and delightful, authentic Italian cuisine, you can’t do much better than Caesars Italian. Their generous restaurant week offer is any pizza or pasta dish, a bottle of beer or glass of wine, and a delicious dessert for just £15. You’ll be spoilt for choice with their huge selection of Mediterranean flavours, whether you want to opt for something classic, like a margherita or lasagne, or you want to spice things up with their “penne alla Caesars”.

£20 The Chopping Block

The Chopping Block is the creation of chef proprietor Michael Hjort, and is housed in a 17th-century building, combining great food and ghost stories, perfect for the Halloween season. During restaurant week they are offering a three-course meal for an astounding £20. Kick off with arancini, seafood gratin or black pudding and apple. For your main choose from sweet potato and parsnip gnocchi, confit duck, beef bourguignon and mullet and herb risotto. And finish on a sweet note with frangipan and cherry slice, parfait chocolate and passionfruit, or a sticky toffee pudding.
