Yorkshire’s Food Capital
Malton has been making a name for itself as a food town built around its famous local produce, award-winning monthly Food Markets, annual Food Lovers Festival, and some of the best food shops in Yorkshire making it a year round foodie destination.
‘Yorkshire’s Food Capital’ is naturally full of fantastic artisan food producers but there’s more to Malton than just food! Centred around the pretty Market Place you will also find a host of independent retailers offering an eclectic mix of unique gifts, homewares, clothing and antiques.
The historic market town of Malton is the gateway to Yorkshire’s stunning coastline, the ancient city of York and breath-taking North York Moors. The town is also an excellent base from which to visit some of North Yorkshire’s most popular attractions including Castle Howard, Eden Camp, Flamingo Land Theme Park & Zoo, Scampston Walled Garden, and Wolds Way Lavender.

Across the river Derwent from Malton is Norton-on-Derwent, a town that loves the great outdoors, surrounded by miles of countryside where it’s easy to escape the everyday of our modern busy lives. Norton is also the gateway to the Yorkshire Wolds, a tranquil and unspoilt chalk landscape that feels completely cut off from the modern world. There are miles of undisturbed walking, horse-riding and cycling trails, passing by the mysterious remains of lost ancient worlds, including an entire medieval village at Wharram Percy.
