York Croquet Club

York Croquet Club is a small, friendly club playing the Queen of Games in the heart of Yorkshire. New members are always very welcome.

Because croquet relies on strategy not strength, it can be played on equal terms by either sex and by people of any age. The playing season runs from April to September. We are lucky enough to have two of the best croquet lawns in Yorkshire

The game lends itself to developing team building, or simply as an occasion for trying something new and enjoyable as a works social event.

Also suitable for holiday tours wishing to provide something different in the evening or during the day.
We can accommodate any number of people between four and twenty-four on the lawns at one time. Prices start from £12 per person. We will be very happy to tailor arrangements to suit you: a typical one-and-a-half or two-hour programme might include welcome tea and biscuits; a short introduction to Golf Croquet and its tactics; basic guidance on holding the mallet, hitting the ball and hoop running; and plenty of time for sociable play.
