Come and visit to see inside this fascinating piece of our nation’s heritage.

Holgate Windmill, York’s last surviving windmill and the oldest 5-sailed windmill in the country is now fully restored and producing traditional stone-ground flour.

Come and visit us on one of our regular open days throughout the year to talk to our knowledgeable volunteers and see how it’s done, or purchase flour (and a wide range of other gifts) any Saturday morning, 10:00 till 12:00.

Prices

Entry to the mill is £3 for adults, £1 for Children (aged 5-18). Entry is free to members of the Holgate Windmill Preservation Society.

    By Road:
    Holgate Windmill is approximately one and a half miles west of York city centre in the Holgate district, between Poppleton Road (A59) and Acomb Road (B1224)
    There is ample parking at the kerbside on Acomb Road. Please do not park on Windmill Rise, which is a narrow residential road.

    By Public Transport:
    There is a bus service (No 1) from the Theatre Royal or opposite the railway station to Acomb Road, stopping near the mill at New Lane or West Bank / Grantham Drive.

    Accessible by Public Transport: 1 mile from York station
