By Road:
From Leeds - via A64 (avoiding York centre)
Travel east on A64. Take the A1237 (York North and Thirsk). Continue for a few miles following the signs to Thirsk A19. At the 4th roundabout that intersects the A19 turn right heading into York City Centre following Rawcliffe/Clifton signs. Continue for 2 miles until you approach the traffic lights facing Bootham Bar. At the traffic lights you can either (1) go straight ahead through the old stone archway of the city walls and up the narrow one way street (not accessible 10am-4pm/11am-4pm Sundays) and turn left at the top onto the cobbled area and then take the street to the left of the archway entrance to the old Purey Cust hospital, or (2) continue right to the next set of lights and turn left. Continue till you approach the cobbled area in front of the Minster's West doors and follow as above.

Directions to parking space
Leave Precentors Court via the same road used to enter. At the traffic lights turn right and stay in the right hand lane. (you should have passed the Tourist Information office on your right). At the traffic lights go straight on down Gillygate. At the next set of traffic lights turn right down Lord Mayors Walk. At the next set of traffic lights turn right through the Minster wall at Monk Bar. Once through the bar turn right down Ogleforth and about 30yards on the left there is a car park. The allocated parking space is specified by a wall plate with No 7 Precentors Court.
To walk back to the house leave the car park and turn left and left again down the cobbled road heading towards the rear of the Minster. At the top of the lane* turn right heading towards the grassy area north of the Minster know as Deans garden. Cut through Deans garden and once out the other side you will see Precentors Court on your right. Please note these gardens are closed at night so alternatively you can walk the other way round the Minster turning left at the top of the cobbled lane*

On Foot:

From York Railway Station
Turn left out of the station. Go through the first set of traffic lights (after the pedestrian crossing) then move into the left hand lane. At the next set turn left and go over the bridge. At the next lights go straight ahead on to the cobbled area in front of the Minster's West doors and follow as above.
