Fairfax Corner is a light, spacious and very comfortable family house, extensively renovated to high environmental standards. Once a Victorian corner shop, it is in a quiet and sunny central spot.

All rooms have a view of the historic medieval walls of the city. We are ideally situated to explore York. There is a private leafy south-facing yard, with a shed for bike storage. We also have lots of books, music, art and there is table tennis in the cellar. We have solar panels to help heat water and other eco-friendly features. There is free parking for one car.

We have flexible booking arrangements, and to book you need to contact us directly via the web site, telephone or by letter.

Due to central location many facilities such as cycle hire, play area and tennis are available in the vicinity. Sports clubs and gyms nearby. Children welcome from any age.

By Road:
Leave the A64 at the A1036 exit signposted for York and the Racecourse. Continue along the road until you reach York city centre, turn right at the lights immediately in front of Micklegate Bar (one of the historic gates to the city) into Nunnery Lane. Take the left fork at the end of Nunnery Lane onto Bishopgate Street and take the first left turn into Skeldergate, then immediately fork left into Cromwell Road. Fairfax Street is the 5th road on the left and our property is located on the end corner nearest the walls (No.26).

On Foot:
From Rail station, turn right outside of the station and follow road to Micklegate Bar. Go through Bar and take the first right, when you see City Walls on your right, Fairfax Street is the first street on the left and Fairfax Corner is number 26.
