Located in the east end of Alban Roe House, the Visitor Centre is fully accessible.

The Visitor Centre tells the Ampleforth story and details the day to day life of the monastic community with display panels. Audio pieces and a film and a mouse hunt for younger children.

By Road:
From Thirsk take the A170 towards Scarborough and Helmsley going up Sutton Bank. Just before Helmsley at park gates turn right on to the B1257 at Sproxton. Then take the first right to Ampleforth.
At the T junction turn sharp left to the Abbey and follow signs. From York take the B1363 crossing the northern ring road and signed to Sutton-on-the-Forest and Helmsley. At Brandsby village turn left following sign to Yearsley and Ampleforth. At the T juncton in
Ampleforth village turn right onto the road to Oswaldkirk. Half a mile outside Ampleforth you can see the Abbey on your right. From thereon follow the signs.

Stephenson's buses also run a daily timetable from York, Helmsley and Easingwold.

Accessible by Public Transport : 15 miles (24.1 kms) from Thirsk station

Visitors are welcome to use the Abbey Tea Room, The Abbey Bookshop, Golf Course, St Albans Sports Centre, Lakes and our Visitor Centre in summer 2011.
