All year round every day. A free walking tour of York taking approximately two hours with skilled, trained guides. Commencing at Exhibition Square. Established by the City Council in 1951. Tours begin at 10.15am and 1.15pm.

To celebrate the launch of a new book – Five Rowntree Walks – from chocolate comes change, the Rowntree Society will be putting on Walk No. 4 which guides you around the Haxby Road area, starting from the Joseph Rowntree Theatre and past the Library, Nuffield Hospital, Swimming baths, the war memorial and as far as the former Rowntree sports field.The walks are every hour on the half-hour, with six walks on the Saturday and six on the Sunday. First walk is at 10.00 and the last walk at 15.00 on both days. The walk takes around half an hour and will help you to burn the equivalent of one KitKat finger in calories!

At the end of the walk you’ll be able to pick up your own copy of the book so you can do the other walks later on your own.

How do I get my YorkCard?

YorkCards are available from all of York’s public libraries. There’s a £5.00 administration charge for adults and cards are free for under 18s. The YorkCard also entitles you to free or discounted entry to a range of leisure facilties and attractions in York throughout the year.
