Marketing York in association with our members’

Visit York (Est. 1987) is a private, non-profit making organisation. Our principal objective is to increase income in the city generated through tourism by marketing the city of York as a leading visitor destination.

Visit York currently works with in excess of 500 members in and around York. Membership is open to any business with an interest in tourism and members are drawn from a wide range of sectors including accommodation, restaurants, retail, attractions and businesses not directly linked to tourism. The Bureau consults and represents these members at local, regional and national levels regarding issues which affect them and the industry.

Visit York is a key member of the First Stop York Partnership; an umbrella group made up of public and private bodies whose purpose is to engage the whole of the public and private sector in a shared commitment to the tourism industry in York to the benefit of businesses, employees, residents and visitors. The First Stop Executive includes the following organisations:
City of York Council, Visit York, Yorkshire Tourist Board, Yorkshire Forward, York Hospitality Association, together with the Chairs of the Marketing, Product Development and York Tourism Training working groups. The York Tourism Bureau is responsible for planning and implementing the marketing strategy for the group.
